The Columbia University Games Club was established on October 19th, 1977. Since that time, members have enjoyed the chance to get together and play games. So, the Games Club is simply a gathering of people who share a love of game playing. All sorts of games apply, strategy games, role-playing, head games, and board games, just to name a few. The Games Club operates on a simple rule; anyone can be a member. So, if you want to join, you simply show up at any Friday evening meeting, and voila! You are on your way to becoming a member of the Columbia University Games Club.

Now, this is not just an unorganized room full of people playing games. The Games Club actually has a constitution which lays out all the information about members, officers, and meetings. Removal of members and officers is also covered, as well as elections; when they are held and what they are for. Elections, incidentally are held in the spring, and newly elected officers take office at spring’s end. There are also committees within the Games Club, the Convention Core and the Convention Corps. The Convention Core is the staff for the convention, which is the Convention Corps. The Convention corps is an annually held convention, which is related to the Science Fiction Society. Other things associated with the Games Club are a quote board, where members simply go to jot down their quotes, or favorite quotes that they have heard. If you have a quote that you want added, the email for administration is located at the bottom of the page. Just shoot them an email and they will add your quote to their many famous and not so famous quote board. While not everyone at

Columbia University is a member of the Games Club, most are, at least, very familiar with the organization. Incidentally, you do not actually have to be affiliated with

Columbia University to join the Games Club.
Some other things that the Games Club has been known to do are tournaments, such as the Assassin tournaments, they go to movies together, and they organize trips to conventions on the East Coast. So, the Columbia University Games Club is not just a gathering of people who hang out because they have nothing else to do. They are a very organized organization that offer social gatherings, share common interests, and above all, have fun together.
